Why game and software development

I have always enjoyed games and had an interest in how they work and what goes on behind the scenes. When I was around 12 – 14 years old I tried to pick up some coding in Java but fell off, as it seemed too complicated. But I have always fallen back to it in some way or another.

A few years later I decided that I really wanted to learn and was going to go about it in a better way. I followed an online course closely to learn C# as I wanted to learn Unity at the time. This approach worked out great, and I picked up a lot. This made me able to do some stuff in Unity and try out the engine. Sometime after that I decided to learn Java because I wanted to create Plugins for my Minecraft server, which I did. This later led to me doing some freelancing work, selling custom made plugins to different clients. I think this was one of my biggest steps in learning programming as I sat with it for such many hours.

Eventually I realized that working on games wasn’t that far away and wasn’t magic or witchcraft. So, I decided after I was done with school to search for a few different game programming educations and try to join one. Finally, I ended up at The Game Assembly where I got to sharpen my skills further. I hope to continue in this direction and learn more about game or software development.

A little about me

I am a team player and a person who enjoys a challenge to learn new things. I gladly work outside of my comfort zone and enjoy the challenge that it brings. I think my greatest strengths are my attention to detail and my past experiences working with performance heavy tasks in games. This has helped me think a lot on performance and problems that could arise when doing anything in general. I always take responsibility for my tasks and try my best to make the best out of them.

When I’m not programming, I like to enjoy nature, go for a hike, work out and of course enjoying some games with a few friends along with it.
